Mr. Raju Thapa obtained his Mater of Laws from London Guildhall University in 1996/1997. Then he followed a Post Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE) course on the full time basis at Thames Valley University, London in 2002/2003. He had completed his CPE degree in 2003. He then enrolled for Post Graduate Diploma in legal Practice on the part time basis at Thames Valley University between 2003/2005. He started his training contract with Asghar & Co Solicitors, Southall between 2005/2007.
He is first Nepalese national to qualify as a solicitor of England and Wales. This news was published by Law Gazette in December 2007. Mr. Thapa has extensive knowledge in all aspects of Immigration law. He has dealt with immigration matters such as applications for leave to remain in the UK in different capacity and appeal against the decision for settlement visa, Gurkhas’ settlement rights for over 18 Dependents, EEA national, Tier 1-Tier 5 under Points Based system, British nationality etc. He has also lodged many cases to High Court by way of Judicial Review. He is also Advisor to Non Resident Nepalese Association in the UK, Nepalese Catering Association in the UK, Yeti Association in the UK, Chhetri Samajuk and associated with many Nepalese organisations. He is also legal columnist for SETU Bridge Magazine.
He has recently set up a new law office, ‘Everest Law Solicitors’ in the heart of West London, Ealing. His main area of practice is Immigration and Litigation.
Mr. Thapa appeared as a legal expert in many Television programmes such as Nepal Television in the UK, Nepali Television in Nepal, MBEX Channel, Kantipur, ABC channel etc. He has widely participated and delivered his speech for Tier 4 students in different locations. He delivered his speech about the changes of new rules and its legal impact to Tier 4 students in the UK.
He has been providing immigration advice at Nepalisamajuk.com forum. He gave free legal advice to Nepalese community based in Wembley, Plumstead, Reading, Winchester, Aldershot etc. He has written many articles regarding Gurkha settlement, students in the UK, asylum cases and Human Rights issues, Changes in Immigration Rule and its impact to the wider community, Dual nationality issue in Nepal etc. He is also providing legal advice to Embassy of Nepal.
Mr Thapa has been awarded as ‘Best Nepalese Professional of the year’ in 2008/2009 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 for consecutive period of three years by Nepalese Business Association in the UK. He was also awarded certificate of appreciation in recognition and appreciation of his service to Nepal and Nepalese community with exceptional diligence by NRNAUK.
